At Friends of the Saskatoon Afforestation Areas, we're passionate about connecting communities through our "Come to Nature, Come to Live" events. 🌳👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Join us as we bring schools, classrooms, families, and youth groups closer to nature through activities like nature hikes, pond-dipping, bird watching, and binocular exploration. 🦋 However, to sustain and expand these initiatives, we need your support to enhance our educational resources and outdoor equipment. Nature is calling—will you answer? 🌍💫

Winning the Community Challenge capacity-building prize would greatly help us acquire essential supplies like Little John rentals, bus rentals, binoculars, field guides, and educational materials. 🚶‍♂️🌿 This investment will enrich our programs, fostering deeper connections with nature and inspiring environmental stewardship among all participants.  You are invited June 5 at 2:00 pm to a ceremonial commemorative Tree Planting for 50th Anniversary World Environment Day near the Diefenbaker Centre U of S http ://friendsareas.ca/   You are cordially invited to special tree planting ceremony by the University of Saskatchewan collaborating with the Friends of the Saskatoon Afforestation Areas on World Environment Day (W.E.D.), June 5, 2022 This ceremony echoes a tree planting ceremony 40 years ago to the day of the last tree planted by the Richard St. Barbe Baker in union with the University of Saskatchewan on World Environment Day (W.E.D.), June 5, 1982 near the Diefenbaker Centre. This collaboration between the U of S and Richard St. Barbe Baker on his visit here from New Zealand, honoured him as a former graduate (1913), and recipient of an honorary doctorate in 1971.
