Walking Through Time and Terrain - Jane's Walk Saskatoon
Good day, everyone! 🌿
We are excited to invite you to the upcoming Jane’s Walk Festival event: “Walking Through Time and Terrain” in the heart of the Richard St. Barbe Baker Afforestation Area, home to the north end of Chappell Marsh in the City of Saskatoon! 🌍
This walk is part of the Jane’s Walk Festival, an annual celebration of community-led conversations inspired by urbanist Jane Jacobs. Her book The Death and Life of Great American Cities left a lasting legacy, advocating for people-centered, "bottom-up" development and vibrant, safe communities built by engaged citizens. 💬💡
On Saturday, May 3, 2025, at 1:00 PM, join us as we explore the rich history and natural beauty of this green space. We’ll delve into the legacy of B.T. Chappell, a community champion, and discuss ongoing developments in the area, including improvements made by the City of Saskatoon under Canada’s Natural Infrastructure Fund. We’ll also reflect on the geological history of the West Swale wetlands, formed during the Pleistocene era, and consider their environmental impact today. 🌱
This walk is a unique opportunity to connect with our past, present, and community. Be sure to wear sturdy shoes, long pants, and insect repellent!
We look forward to seeing you on May 3rd at 1:00 PM! Let’s walk, talk, and explore how history, nature, and community intertwine. ✨
