Water, Wildlife, and You: The Wetland Connection

🌿 Water, Wildlife, and You: The Wetland Connection 🌊

Did you know wetlands are nature’s superheroes? They clean our water, store carbon, reduce floods, and provide homes for nearly 40% of the world’s species. Yet half of the world’s wetlands are gone — up to 90% lost in parts of Saskatchewan! 😲

At the Richard St. Barbe Baker Afforestation Area, over 60 species at risk — like the Horned Grebe and Western Tiger Salamander — rely on these fragile habitats. But urban growth, pollution, climate change, and invasive species are putting them in danger.

Research by Sarah Diab is asking a big question: how can we protect wetlands while still enjoying green spaces?

Here’s the truth: wetlands don’t need superheroes. They need students. They need you. Be curious. Be unstoppable. Protect wetlands, and you protect water, wildlife, climate, and your community.

πŸ’š Your actions today can make a difference for tomorrow.
